  • With domed lid having a thin beaded edge, above a facade centering an elaborate cast bronze lock plate and projecting malachite boss with keyhole, in a rectangular panel ornamented with small cast bronze corner brackets, parallel line inlays of bronze through the lid are repeated through the base molding.

  • The malachite especially well-chosen, the box of very fine construction. No evidence of damage or repair.

  • Previously owned by American heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post; sold to a private collector, 1973.
