  • The box with softened corners, constructed in four tiers with a fitted lid. Entire surface patterned in continuous gold manji lattice over black lacquer ground. No visible joinery.

  • Minimal wear. Light abrasion to base corners. Upper tier slightly offset.

  • Acquired by Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Ingersoll, Philadelphia, at an estate sale in Maine, 1980; by descent to their granddaughter, Ms. Anne Ingersoll.
