  • The top shows signs of opening and re-closing; the sides with scorch marks, moisture stains, and rippling; lower edge reinforced with tape.

  • Belonging to the estate of the late Duchess of Cornwall, acquired in 1955; sold at auction, 1956; current owner acquired from Galerie Maison, Paris, in 1962.
